The local farmers market is so much more than just fresh fruits and vegetables. You’ll find homemade baked goods, handmade items for the home, fresh flowers, and items for children like handmade hair bows. The Hawley Farmers Market opened Friday, May 13th and runs through the month of October. Vendors will be out on these days from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There are many vendors to visit at the Hawley Farmers Market. A few of the vendors to look for include Daniels Flower and Vegetable Stand, The Garden at Safford Farm, Maple Hill Farms, Marcia’s Homemade, Muellers’Vegetable Farm, Michael and Doris Musselman Farm, Salem Mountain Natural Vegetables and Twin Maples Farm. A few non-food related vendors include Bob’s Woodworking featuring handmade lawn and garden items, Judy Goyette-Simons with decorative items for the home and Violets R Blue children’s boutique.
Another great way to buy local from a Hawley market is at Mill Market. Mill Market is located inside the Hawley Silk Mill. Shoppers can buy healthy affordable food from local farmers. Items to be found at Mill Market include locally made cheeses, fresh baked pastries, organic produce, coffee, eggs, milk, and butter. Mill Market also has prepared meals ready to go from their Cocoon Catering Kitchen. The prepared meals are great for a picnic lunch to go or for a special event.
Just 10 miles down the road in the neighboring town of Honesdale, you’ll find The Wayne County Farmers Market and the Yatsonsky Farmers Market. The Yatsonsky Market is great to visit in the fall because of their corn maze and pumpkin patch. Honesdale is also home to The Farmer’s Market at the Cooperage which is open every Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
If you find yourself near Lakeville, PA, The Market at Sculpted Ice Works Farmers Market is a great spot to buy local dairy, produce and meat. Other items for purchase include prepared foods, handmade soap, jewelry, treats like salsa and jellies. The Market is open on Sunday’s from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm from May to October.
