Pennsylvania is home to more than 100 brewing companies. No matter where you find yourself in the state, there’s a good chance a craft beer is close by. From IPA’s to Lager’s there is something for every beer lover’s taste. Here is our insider’s guide to the best brewing companies in PA.
3 Guys and a Beer’d
It all began with 4 friends trying their hand at home brewing. After a couple of years and many batches of beer later, 3 Guys and a Beer’d became official. They are the first brewery to open in Carbondale, PA since Prohibition. 3 Guys offer both year-round and seasonal brews. They offer an experimental series known as their Clean Shaven Series. If you happen to be in the area on Thursdays, pop over for their Ultimate Taco Thursday held weekly. The Taproom can be found on North Church Street in Carbondale. They are open Thursday and Friday’s starting at 4:00 pm and Saturdays at noon.
Stoudt’s Brewing Company
Located in Adamstown, PA is Stoudt’s Brewing Company. Their flagship brews include an IPA, Pale Ale, Strong Bitter, a Lager, and a Pilsner. The names of their beers are creative and will you excited to try each one. With names like Smooth Hoperator, Multiple Personality Disorder, and Winey Fat Dog, you know they have to be good. They welcome visitors to tour the brewery on Saturdays at 3:00 pm and Sundays at 1:00 pm. Stop by the Brew Pub to sample 12 different hand-crafted beers.
Neshaminy Creek Brewing
Voted best brewery, brewer, and Lager of the year in 2015 was Neshaminy Creek Brewing. Found in Croyden, Pennsylvania, they use Neshaminy Creek water in every hand-crafted brew. They can be found on Ray Avenue in Croyden. Be sure to check their calendar for events like specialty food trucks and live music.
ShawneeCraft Brewing
“True to Nature, True to the Craft” This is the motto of ShawneeCraft Brewing in Shawnee, Pennsylvania. Their artisanal beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and made with local organic ingredients with no chemicals. Visitors can tour the brewery Wednesday through Sunday starting at the lobby of The Shawnee Inn. They offer live music in the taproom every Friday and Saturday.
Nimble Hill Brewing Company
Tunkhannock, PA is home to the 15 barrel farm-style brewery Nimble Hill. For a $2.00 tasting fee, you can visit Nimble Hill’s tasting room and sample 7 days a week. Their products can be found at Twigs Café in Tunkhannock and at other area restaurants and pubs. They also sell growlers and bottles in their Growler Den.
