It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we know just the place to spend it! Christmas in PA is a special season when families come together for fun events held all over town. If you’ve never visited Pennsylvania over the holidays, you’re missing out! The best place to enjoy Christmas in PA is right here in beautiful Hawley. Kick off the holiday season and get in the holiday spirit with us here at The Settlers Inn this December.
One of Hawley’s favorite annual events is Hawley Winterfest. This year, the town will celebrate its 18th Winterfest December 9th through the 11th. This 3-day festival is jam packed with family events including a children’s show at the community theater, holiday music at the library, an Artisan Craft Fair for early holiday shopping, the holiday home tour, lots of kid’s activities and crafts, and a visit from Santa. Also, adults will enjoy the Winterfest beer tour which includes 11 participating bars.
As part of Hawley Winterfest, Silver Birches Resort will host Christmas in Hawaii on December 9th. There will be a hula competition and music from Silver Meteor. The Ice Tee Golf Tournament will also return this year. 9 holes of golf will be played along Lake Wallenpaupack. Christmas trees will be found at each hole with ice sculpted tee signs. All skill levels are welcome to play.
Neighboring town Honesdale, PA is home to The Stourbridge Line Train Excursions. Each year, kids delight in The Santa Express which begins the weekend after Thanksgiving. Riders will receive a gift from Santa, a souvenir ticket, and a candy cane. Tickets start at just $10.00.
Here at The Settlers Inn, we have many events planned for the holiday season. When you visit the Inn, you will be delighted in the holiday décor including a giant gingerbread house replica of The Settlers Inn. It is a Settlers favorite next to the large decorated tree that adorns the dining room. We would love to have you join us in December for our Candlelight Christmas dinner. Come dressed in your holiday attire and enjoy an elegant candlelit dinner in the dining room. Chef Ben will prepare a seasonal holiday menu. Friday and Saturday evening, the Bradley Bunch will be the musical entertainment. On Sunday, Regional High School Choirs will perform. The dinner will be on December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and is $95.00 per person. After dinner, take a carriage ride through Bingham Park to see the tree lit in the gazebo and the luminaries that line the streets.
Another opportunity to come together with family and friends is at our Winterfest Brunch. On December 10th and 11th, we will host a festive brunch with music by harpist Kristy Chmura. The brunch will offer a seasonal menu accompanied by bottomless mimosas.
There is no doubt about it; The Settlers Inn is the most beautiful place to enjoy Christmas in PA. The Inn offers 23 guest rooms with most featuring a seasonal fireplace. After a day spent out cross country skiing at the local parks or watching the eagles soar along the Lackawaxen River, soak in your room’s Jacuzzi tub and unwind. Do a little holiday shopping at The Potting Shed before you head out. Located in the gardens on the property, The Potting Shed is home to unique home décor and one-of-a-kind gifts.
