Pocono weekend getaways are a great idea for couples or families looking for a fun vacation. A weekend spent in the Poconos can be spent exploring the great outdoors or relaxing and doing nothing at all. Here at The Settlers Inn, we have a few ideas of what to do on Pocono weekend getaways. From hiking the many trails of the Pocono Mountains to the annual Wally Lake Fest, we’ve got it all right here and we’d love for you to share a weekend with us.
Here are our top 4 things to do on Pocono weekend getaways.
If you are an experienced hiker or just enjoy a leisurely stroll, the Pocono Mountains are home to a variety of scenic trails. While exploring the Pocono Mountain trails, you’ll come across wildlife, trails that open up to beautiful waterfalls and places for bird watching. The Pocono Mountains are also a great location for water recreation. Lake Wallenpaupack is the 3rd largest lake in Pennsylvania and offers 52 miles of shoreline. Spend the day on the lake in a boat, kayaking, stand up paddle-boarding or swimming.
Take a drive!
You can’t beat the amazing views of the Pocono Mountains. If hiking isn’t your thing, you can always spend the afternoon on a scenic drive. Here at The Settlers Inn, we’ve mapped out 2 of our favorite rides. There is the Wonderful Waterfall Tour and the Scenic Back Roads Tour.
Wally Lake Fest
The 7th annual Wally Lake Fest will be celebrated this August 26th through the 28th. There will be fun events held all over town. The Settlers Inn kicks off events on Friday night with live music on the deck by Spencer and Nancy Reed Quartet from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Other events not to miss during this special weekend include the Blues, Brews and BBQ Sunday night at Ledges Hotel, the Lakeside Luau, Ice Cream Social, the Boat Show, and the Artisan Craft Fair at Hawley Silk Mill.
Take a load off when you visit the Pocono Mountains. Relax with a stroll around the calming gardens that surround the Inn. There is also a nice path that borders the banks of the Lackawaxen River. There are many common to kick up your feet, sip coffee or a glass of wine or curl up with a good book.
Spend a long lazy weekend right here in the heart of the Pocono Mountains at our beautiful Inn. If you join during Labor Day, our award-winning restaurant will be serving Labor Day brunch on that Monday.
