Don’t Miss the Peters Valley Craft Fair

Peters Valley Craft FairOver 150 exhibitors will take over the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, New Jersey for the Peters Valley Craft Fair this fall.  The 52nd annual Peters Valley Craft Fair will take place September 24th and 25th.  Artists from across the country will line 5 buildings of the fairgrounds with their American Craft in 12 Medias: ceramics, pottery, drawing, painting, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, photography, printmaking, sculpture, wood, and basketry.  It’s no wonder that thousands of visitors attend this fundraiser each year.  The fair is a great place to meet new artists, start early holiday shopping or simply pick up something for you.

Peters Valley School of Craft is a non-profit organization that was founded back in 1970.  Their mission is to promote and encourage education and excellence in craft.  The school’s facilities can be found in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.  This is the school’s largest fundraiser with proceeds from each ticket going towards the educational programs offered at Peters Valley.

Artist’s looking to develop their craft can attend either the adult classes or youth classes offered at Peters Valley.  Adult workshops include blacksmithing, woodworking, ceramics, jewelry, and fine metals just to name a few.  The classes are hands-on and ideal for all skill levels.  Youth programs help kids ages 7-17 develop their skills and expose them to a variety of mediums.  From drawing to sculpting, there is a variety to choose from to keep all ages interested.

In addition to the hundreds of exhibitors, events to look forward to at the craft fair include artist demonstrations, live music, a kid’s art area and food.  The fair will run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday.  Admission to the fair is $10 at the gate for one das.  Children 12 and under are free. Group tickets are also available for groups of 10 or more.  Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, New Jersey has been home to many events for over 70 years.  The fairgrounds are located on 165-acres and are home to 15 permanent buildings.
