10th Annual Honesdale Roots and Rhythm Music and Arts Festival

Bringing the community of Honesdale together for the past decade is the Honesdale Roots and Rhythm Music and Arts Festival.  Founded in 2006, this annual festival’s mission is to bring music, art and people together in Honesdale.  This not for profit festival is a free event for families featuring live music and incredible art by local artists of the region.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and head out to Main Street on June 20th for this locals favorite festival.

This year’s lineup has yet to be announced but is sure to be as grand as in year’s past.  Past performers have included The Barley Boys, Dale Watson, John Nemeth and Chrissie O’Dell just to name a few.  Last year’s headliner was Commander Cody.  The festival is held on Main Street in downtown Honesdale with main stage in Central Park.

In addition to the lineup of talented musicians, artist booths line the streets selling a variety of one of a kind pieces like paintings, ceramics and jewelry.  Food vendors will also be on-site selling classics like hand cut fries and lemonade.

Another fun aspect of the event is the Roots and Rhythm Raffle.  Tickets can be purchased day of or at select locations around town including Apple Day Spa and Hair Salon, Trackside Restaurant and MoJo Music on Main Street in Honesdale.  Last year’s raffle items included a hand-painted guitar, a 14ct gold diamond peace necklace and a 32 inch flat screen television.  Other past events that have been at the festival have been a beer garden, laser tag and storytelling.

In 2011, the Roots and Rhythm Festival received the Pennsylvania Waste Watcher Award.  A special committee was formed back in 2010 to make this event as eco-friendly as possible.  Because of their efforts to recycle, the festival was recognized by the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania for going above and beyond what is required under the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act.

If you’re looking to be a part of this special event, volunteers in all aspects are needed.  Volunteers help throughout the day with parking, security, advertising, trash pick-up, graphic arts and more.  To be a part of this family-friendly event, sign up today and put your talents to work.
