The Looking Glass Art Gallery is located inside of Hawley Silk Mill in downtown Hawley. The gallery is owned by Millie and Juan H. Espino. Besides being the owner, Juan is also an artist with his folk art style of work featured at The Looking Glass Art Gallery. He has also painted a replica of the Hawley Silk Mill from what it would have looked like in the early 1900’s. Other local artists to be found here include Howard D. Becker, Steven White, Greg Hagen, and Austin Burke. The Looking Glass Art Gallery holds special events throughout the year and has rotating exhibits on display.
Located on the 1st floor of Hawley Silk Mill is an exhibit known as Art on the Edge. Contemporary sculptures and paintings are on display and for sale at this space which is hosted by the Wayne County Arts Alliance. Friday and Saturday nights, Art on the Edge holds after hour events including a Creative Cocktail Hour and French Woods Performing Arts Specials. They are open for viewing daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and admission is free.
In the neighboring town of Milford is The Artery Fine Arts and Fine Crafts. Since 1999, visitors have had the opportunity to view photographs, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, and paintings. Every 2nd Saturday of the month, The Artery holds artist receptions where you can meet the featured artist and view their collection. The gallery has around 10-15 artists on a monthly rotation.
In the town of Honesdale, Pennsylvania is the family owned Willow River Gallery. Husband and wife team Phil Garfield and Trix Render opened the gallery in 2009. In addition to the many talented local and regional artists who have their work on display, Trix is also a painter and her work is on display at the gallery. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Sundays from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Visit Willow River Gallery from April through December.
