When is the Best Time to Plan a Trip to These Pocono Wineries?

There is never a shortage of things to do when visiting the Pocono Mountains.  If you’ve never experienced Pocono wineries, add it to your to-do list.  Not only is Hawley home to Antler Ridge Winery, there is 7 family owned and operated wineries along the Pocono wine trail.  Pocono wineries are the perfect place to gather with friends, unwind, and enjoy a variety of wines in a scenic atmosphere.

Antler Ridge Winery is a great place to visit when you are in the Hawley area.  They offer a spacious deck with spectacular views.  Their award-winning wines are made with grapes grown in Pennsylvania.  Antler Ridge has 4 other locations in the area including Ulster, Honesdale, Mertztown, and Bechtelsville.

A brand new winery in Stroudsburg is the Rowan Asher Winery and Hard Cidery.  Opening just 6 months ago, Rowan Asher is a family owned and operated winery with award-winning wines.  Their wines have unique names like Misty Love Cabernet Sauvignon, 98 Malbec, Roseto Effect Italian Super Tuscan, and Slate Pinot Grigio.  The tasting room is a rustic yet casual environment ideal for relaxing and enjoying a Gold Medal winning wine.  Their tasting room is open Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Located just 9 miles north of Scranton is Maiolatesi Wine Cellars.  This unique winery offers over 30 varieties of wines with tastings held during business hours.  A great time to visit the winery is for Pizza Night on Friday nights.  Bring the whole family out to sample Bobby Mac’s Mobile Wood-Fired gourmet pizza.  Reservations at least a week out are recommended.

Another winery stop in Stroudsburg is Mountain View Vineyard Winery and Distillery.  This husband and wife owned winery opened in the fall of 2009.  The vineyard uses earth-friendly energy and growing methods to grow their grapes.  The weekends are a great time to visit Mountain View as they have special events scheduled for each day.  Beginning Memorial Day weekend, the winery will have Strummin’ Slushy Sunday’s featuring live music and wine slushies.  There is also a drink of the month featured in the tasting room.

Saylorsburg, PA is home to Sorrenti Cherry Valley Vineyards.  The winery offers guided tours of the winery and tastings 7 days a week.  Check their events calendar before you go.  Sorrenti holds wine glass painting classes and Corks and Canvas painting on various dates.  Every Sunday from May to September, the winery offers Sangria Sunday.  This is a great opportunity to spend time outside, sampling their freshly made Sangria and listening to live music.

Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard and Winery is also located in Saylorsburg.  Their tasting room, which is open daily from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, overlooks the entire vineyard.  Visitors can enjoy sampling their award-winning wines at their 36-foot wine bar or from the wrap-around deck.  Tastings at Blue Ridge include 5 wines and a complimentary glass.
